Argentina receives second batch of six F-16 fighter jets from Denmark
The Argentine Air Force has begun the transfer of six new F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jets from Denmark. This second batch, consisting of four F-16AM single-seat and two F-16BM two-seat aircraft, is part of a larger agreement to acquire 24 aircraft from the Royal Danish Air Force.
The aircraft departed from Skrydstrup Air Base and are scheduled to arrive at the Río Cuarto Air Material Area in Córdoba, Argentina, between September 26 and September 28, depending on weather conditions. The ferry flight includes technical stops in Zaragoza, Spain, and Gando, Gran Canaria, before crossing the Atlantic to Natal, Brazil, for the final leg to Argentina.
To facilitate the Atlantic crossing, the United States Air Force will provide support via KC-135R Stratotanker aircraft for mid-air refueling. The operation also involves Argentine Boeing 737 and KC-130H Hercules aircraft to transport technicians, spare parts, and provide logistical and search-and-rescue support. With this arrival, Argentina will have received 12 of the 24 planned F-16 units.
