Femicide deaths rise in Argentina and Mexico
In Argentina, two observatories reported a sharp increase in gender‑based killings in 2026. Mexico also reports a surge in femicide. Tijuana recorded a feminicide and three other homicides within eight hours on 3–4 August. In Chiapas, the state prosecutor announced a 53 % rise in femicide cases, with 26 incidents in July, and a personal emergency plan to contain the trend. These developments underscore a growing crisis of violence against women across both countries.
