Argentina records over 2,500 transplants in 2026

In 2026, 2,551 people on waiting lists in Argentina have received organ or tissue transplants. The breakdown of these procedures includes 1,096 cornea transplants, 978 renal transplants, 322 hepatic transplants, 85 cardiac transplants, and various other specialized procedures such as renopancreatic, hepatorrenal, and pulmonary transplants.

Among the recipients, 176 were minors under the age of 18. These medical interventions were made possible through 1,427 donation processes, consisting of 664 organ donations and 763 cornea donations. The operations were carried out across 22 jurisdictions through the coordinated efforts of Incucai, provincial procurement agencies, and various healthcare teams.

This data follows a period of sustained growth in the country's donation and transplant activity. In 2025, Argentina recorded its highest historical donor rate of 20.54 donors per million inhabitants, facilitating 4,786 transplants.
