Argentina restores poultry exports to Chile and Peru

Argentina regained its designation as a country free of highly pathogenic avian influenza (IAAP) after Senasa completed eradication, control and surveillance measures in affected provinces. The autodeclaration was submitted to the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) and published on 6 May, confirming that Argentina meets the international sanitary requirements.

Following the IAAP‑free status, Chile and Peru lifted the bans on Argentine poultry meat. Chile’s animal health authorities recognized the Argentine autodeclaration, while Peru formalised the reopening through a note from its Director General of Animal Health. Both countries now allow the re‑entry of Argentine chicken meat under harmonised sanitary protocols.

The market reopening removes a key restriction for Argentine exporters, restoring access to two important regional destinations and supporting the national poultry sector after months of trade disruption caused by earlier influenza outbreaks.
