Argentina regulators order utility connections for thousands of homes

The National Gas and Electricity Regulator (ENReGE) notified the utility company Ecogas that there are no regulatory obstacles to begin connecting approximately 2,400 households in San Rafael, Mendoza, to natural gas now that the new gas pipeline has been completed. The municipality was urged to facilitate the pending domestic connections, and residents were instructed to complete municipal authorisation before contacting Ecogas for final service activation.

In the province of Buenos Aires, the municipal council will debate on Monday whether to eliminate the requirement for a municipal debt‑free certificate to obtain household electricity service. Two proposals aim to amend the existing ordinance that mandates the certificate, potentially replacing it with a technical office certification. The discussion of this and several other local projects will take place during the council’s ninth ordinary session of 2026.
