Argentina: Regulatory progress on invasive species and agricultural emergency in Salta

In Entre Ríos, provincial authorities, producers, and hunting associations are advancing the regulation of Provincial Law No. 11.184. This law designates wild boar, feral pigs, and axis deer as invasive pest species throughout the province. Officials reported that the regulatory process is well underway and awaits the signature of Governor Rogelio Frigerio. While stakeholders expressed differing views on specific points, there was a consensus on the need for swift implementation to manage these exotic species.

In Salta, viticulturists and fruit and vegetable producers are seeking national assistance following late frosts that caused significant crop damage. An agricultural emergency has been declared in Cafayate, San Carlos, Molinos, and Cachi. Producers, some reporting losses near 90 percent, are requesting tax deferrals and extensions on credits from Banco Nación to sustain operations. While provincial measures include tax relief, local officials and producers expressed skepticism regarding the availability of national subsidies.
