Argentina reinforces mandatory school vaccination requirements

The Argentine Ministry of Public Health is emphasizing the importance of completing the mandatory vaccination schedule for school entry, specifically recommending that children receive key doses at age 5. The recommended vaccines include boosters for Polio (IPV/Salk), the second dose of the Triple Viral (measles, mumps, and rubella), the DPT vaccine (diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis), and the second dose of Varicella.

In a related development regarding compliance, the Universidad Nacional del Sur (UNS) has clarified its policy for students with incomplete vaccination records. Following a dispute involving a student whose family holds anti-vaccination views, the Dean of the Department of Health Sciences, Pablo Badr, stated that while students with incomplete records cannot attend classes in person, they are not expelled and may continue their studies through virtual modalities.

Badr noted that the university follows Argentine law, which mandates vaccination as both an individual and collective right. The institution provides a 60-day window for families to contact the health system after notification, with a total procedure period of approximately 120 days to ensure compliance with health regulations.
