Argentina's Chief of Staff Diego Santilli pushes out Science Minister Darío Genua amid cabinet reshuffle

The Argentine government is undergoing a major internal reorganisation after Diego Santilli assumed the role of chief of the Cabinet of Ministers. Santilli has transferred several agencies—including ENACOM, ARSAT and the national postal service—directly under his control or to the vice‑cabinet led by Gustavo Coria. As part of the changes, the secretary of Innovation, Science and Technology, Darío Genua, is expected to resign within days. Sources say the move reduces the influence of presidential adviser Santiago Caputo and consolidates Santilli’s power over strategic bodies such as CONICET, CONAE, the National Cybersecurity Center and the VENG space‑vehicle company.

The restructuring was formalised in Resolution 581 published in the Official Gazette, and officials describe the departure of Genua as a logical step in aligning the ministry with Santilli’s team. No replacement has been named yet, but the administration indicated it will appoint a close associate of the new chief of staff.
