Argentina renewable energy: Buenos Aires leads in wind capacity

Argentina is seeing a shift in its renewable energy landscape. The province of Buenos Aires has surpassed the Patagonia region in installed wind capacity, currently holding 1,999 MW compared to the 1,914 MW combined in Neuquén, Río Negro, Chubut, and Santa Cruz.

This development in Buenos Aires is attributed to high-quality wind speeds, land availability, and proximity to the main consumption center in the AMBA region. The Port of Bahía Blanca also plays a critical role by facilitating the logistics of importing large wind components, which reduces costs compared to the more remote Patagonia region.

In Entre Ríos, Enersa and the provincial government are moving forward with a photovoltaic plant project in the Nogoyá Industrial Park. The project, which received nine bids during the tender process, will feature 240 solar panels with a nominal power of 120 kW. This initiative aims to strengthen local electrical infrastructure and support industrial growth through clean energy.
