Horacio Guevara appointed head of Argentina's Health Services Superintendency

The Argentine government has officially announced the resignation of Claudio Stivelman from the Superintendencia de Servicios de Salud (SSS), the agency responsible for regulating social security and private health insurance. Stivelman, who held the position for just over a year, is being replaced by Horacio Guevara.

Guevara, an engineer who previously served as the agency's general manager, is a close associate of Health Minister Mario Lugones. Before joining the SSS, Guevara spent over a decade in the private health sector, notably as the Director of Management at the Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires.

The transition aims to maintain the current administration's health system policies. The Ministry of Health stated that Guevara will focus on “promoting competition among different health insurance agents” and “encouraging freedom of choice for beneficiaries.” This leadership change marks the fourth time the SSS has seen a change in superintendents during the current administration.
