Argentina reports horse slaughter in Balcarce and dead sheep in Tanti
In the rural district of Balcarce, a worker identified as Mr. Blanco discovered that a horse used for traditional parades and a pregnant mare had been killed and dismembered near kilometer 50 of Ruta Nacional 226, close to La Marta. Both animals, each weighing about 650 kg and valued at roughly seven million pesos, were found with their viscera scattered across the field. The incident was reported to the local police station, which has opened an investigation to locate the perpetrators.
In Tanti, a community-wide search for a missing sheep named Bujía ended tragically when authorities, acting on a judicial order, entered a suspect’s home 24 hours after the formal complaint and found the animal dead. The owner condemned the delay, arguing that a swifter raid might have saved the sheep. Police recovered animal remains and the case is now proceeding through the courts to determine criminal responsibility.
