Argentina rescues abandoned dogs in Paraná River and Entre Ríos flood

Fishermen on the Paraná River discovered a dog tied to a rope in a remote ravine and cut the knot, bringing the animal aboard their boat. The rescued dog, later named “Pellegrini,” received food and affection from the crew, and the video of the rescue spread widely on social media, drawing praise for the anglers’ compassion.

In a separate incident, lifeguard Damián Pires saved a dog known locally as “Manchita” during a severe flood in Colón, Entre Ríos. After the animal became trapped among debris while chasing a duck, Pires swam about 50 metres, secured the dog with a flotation device, and returned it safely to shore. Both rescues highlighted spontaneous acts of kindness toward animals in distress and generated significant online attention in Argentina.
