Argentina rolls out unified traffic fine codes and raises penalties

Argentina's National Road Safety Agency (ANSV) has issued Disposition 167/2026, establishing a single coding system for all traffic infractions across the country. The reform aims to harmonise criteria among provinces and municipalities, improve the national driver‑scoring system, and enable easier data exchange between traffic authorities.

The update also raises the value of the Unidad Fija (UF) to 2,101 Argentine pesos, which serves as the basis for calculating fines. Penalties now range from 20 UF for minor offences (about 42,000 pesos) to up to 2,000 UF for the most serious violations (over 4 million pesos). Light, serious, very serious and maximum categories are defined, with corresponding point deductions from drivers' licences. The new scheme applies nationwide and has been reflected in the recent Córdoba police road‑safety bulletin, which details the revised fine amounts for the region.
