Argentina secures 19 medals at 2026 Parasuramericanos in Valledupar

The II Parasuramericanos Valledupar 2026 were held in Colombia, bringing together more than 1,000 para‑athletes from across the Americas. Argentina's Federation of Blind Sports (FADeC) fielded over 160 competitors and finished the competition with 19 medals – five gold, twelve silver and two bronze – across swimming, athletics, blind football and goalball.

Swimmer Analuz Pellitero of General Pico delivered a historic performance, winning five medals: gold in the 100 m backstroke (S12) and 200 m medley (SM11), plus three silvers in breaststroke and freestyle events. Her haul helped the Argentine swimming squad become the largest medal contributor for the delegation.

In athletics, shot‑put champion Ignacio Parodi threw 15.02 m to claim gold, while long‑jump winner Franco Pinetti added a second gold and a silver in the 100 m T13. The athletics team added further silver medals in other track events.

The blind football side, known as “Los Murciélagos,” earned silver after a 1‑0 loss to Brazil, and the men’s goalball team also finished second. FADeC president David Peralta said the tally “is the fruit of the enormous daily work of the athletes, coaches and technical staff.” The Games also marked the start of qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games.
