Argentina sees new union strike plan and Senate debate on property law

Argentina’s major labour federations – the CGT, two CTA branches and the UTEP – approved a new mobilisation schedule on 22 July and 7 August, aiming to build momentum toward a general strike. The plan includes joint actions with pensioners, protests outside the Economy Ministry in August and participation in the upcoming Minimum, Vital and Mobile Salary Council.

At the same time, the Argentine Senate scheduled a session for 16 July to consider a private‑property reform bill that would lift many restrictions on foreign acquisition of rural land and introduce “express” evictions for occupied properties. The session will also address a slate of judicial reforms and other legislative items.
