Argentina sees record rise in multi-employment due to income crisis

Argentina is experiencing a record rise in multi-employment, a phenomenon where individuals hold two or more jobs simultaneously to supplement insufficient income. According to a report by C-P Consultora based on INDEC data, multi-employment reached 11.5% of the employed population last year, marking a historic high.

This trend involves more than 2.2 million people. The data shows a steady acceleration in this pattern, rising from 8.7% in 2017 and 9.1% during the 2020 pandemic to the current levels. Experts indicate that the primary driver is the severe income crisis, forcing the lowest social strata to seek additional occupations to meet basic needs.
