Argentina sees rising reserves and high corporate dividend remittances
Argentina is experiencing a significant shift in its macroeconomic landscape as exchange controls are relaxed. Following the reversal of restrictive measures that began in April 2025, companies have remitted $3.3 billion in dividends and accumulated profits abroad through July 2026. This volume of outflows represents a level not seen since 2010.
Simultaneously, the Central Bank of Argentina is seeing a recovery in its international reserves. Gross reserves have reached approximately $49 billion, the highest level in nearly seven years. Net reserves have also transitioned from a deficit of $11 billion at the end of 2023 to an estimated positive balance of between $7 billion and $10 billion by the end of July 2026.
This financial stabilization is driven by a rare occurrence where both the current account and the financial account have registered simultaneous positive results for the third time in 25 years. According to the Rosario Board of Trade, growth in agro-industrial, energy, and mining exports has contributed to this trend.
