Palermo gym-goer dies of cardiac arrest after workout

A man in his early fifties collapsed on the street after leaving a Megatlon gym in the Palermo neighborhood of Buenos Aires. He was found on Soldado de la Independencia between Gorostiaga and Olleros, clutching his chest before falling unconscious. Emergency personnel from the Sistema de Atención Médica de Emergencias (SAME) arrived and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation for several minutes, but the victim was declared dead at the scene. The identity of the man was not released. The incident highlights the legal requirement for Buenos Aires gyms to be linked to emergency services and to train staff in CPR, as stipulated by local law N.º 139.
