Argentina Senate advances pension reform bill in 9th Session

The Argentine Senate held its 9th ordinary session of the 147th legislative period, presided over by Vice‑Governor Alicia Aluani. During the session the Senate introduced the executive‑drafted law titled “Restoration of Balance and Strengthening of the Pension System,” which will be considered in the next meeting.

The Bills received majority opinions from two commissions: the Budget and Treasury Commission (with a government‑majority) and the Constitutional Affairs and Agreements Commission (with an opposition‑majority). Senator Rubén Dal Molín secured a preferential treatment request for these opinions in the upcoming session, and the motion was approved. Senator Juan Pablo Cosso proposed amendments to articles on teacher and special‑education regimes after consultations with teachers’ unions and disability advocates, aiming to align the text with national and international standards.

Other legislative initiatives discussed included proposals on medical propaganda agents, provincial industry promotion, environmental protection of a native amphibian, and the designation of a provincial artisan festival.
