Argentina Slashes Export Tariffs for Industries to Boost Competitiveness

The Argentine government issued Decree 566/2026, eliminating export duties on a wide range of manufactured goods and setting a gradual reduction schedule for other strategic tariff lines. Immediate zero rates apply to key chemical and petrochemical inputs, steel and non‑ferrous metal products, and automotive components such as trucks, tractors, chassis and special‑purpose vehicles. For items not covered by the instant exemption, monthly reductions will bring current 4.5% and 3% rates down to 0% by 1 June 2027, covering derivatives of petroleum, plastics and vehicle bodies.

The measure aims to lower production costs, improve international pricing, attract foreign exchange, and foster employment while preserving fiscal balance. The automotive sector, accounting for about 10% of Argentina’s industrial output, is highlighted as a strategic priority in the decree.
