Argentina social report highlights youth employment and elderly healthcare crises

A report from the Observatorio de la Deuda Social Argentina (ODSA) at the Universidad Católica Argentina highlights significant socioeconomic challenges facing both youth and the elderly in Argentina.

Regarding youth aged 18 to 25, nearly 70% face difficulties accessing quality employment. The data shows that only 14.2% hold formal jobs with full rights. Meanwhile, 36.6% remain inactive, 22.5% engage in irregular tasks, and 10.7% have been unemployed for over six months. Inequality plays a major role, as regular employment rates drop from 38.9% in middle-high socioeconomic sectors to 19.7% among vulnerable populations. Additionally, 20.7% of youth neither study nor work, a figure that rises to 34.2% in low-income households.

For the elderly, the report indicates widespread difficulties in healthcare and financial stability. Approximately one in three households with older adults reports problems with healthcare access, with 65% of those facing difficulties due to economic reasons. Furthermore, 46% of households with elderly members report that their income is insufficient to cover monthly expenses.
