Argentina stages film tributes to Jorge Luis Borges and María Gabriela Epumer

The Teatro Estudio in Mar del Plata will present a three‑week "Cine Debate" cycle honoring Jorge Luis Borges. The program runs on Sundays in August, showing films such as Carlos Saura’s *El Sur* (1992), Héctor Olivera’s *El Evangelio según Marcos* (1993), Gerardo Vera’s *La otra historia de Rosendo Juárez* (1993), Alex Cox’s *La muerte y la brújula* (1992) and Jaime Chávarri’s *La intrusa* (1993). The series is coordinated by Diego Menegazzi and includes a presentation by Cecilia Roth.

A separate event took place at the Microcine of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, where a special screening of the documentary *Perfume* was held. Directed by Lucía Ruiz and produced by Andrea Testa, the film chronicles the life of Argentine rock guitarist María Gabriela Epumer, featuring previously unseen footage from 1995‑2003. Family members, fellow musicians and the photographer Andy Cherniavsky attended, and the documentary is slated for a theatrical release in November.
