Argentina Supreme Court upholds convictions in Almagro financier murder
The Supreme Court of Argentina has upheld the convictions of Julieta Antonella Lacivitta and Estefanía Romero for the 2021 murder of financier Walter Molina in the Almagro neighborhood of Buenos Aires.
Judges Horacio Rosatti, Carlos Rosenkrantz, and Ricardo Lorenzetti rejected the defense's appeal, finalizing the sentences. Lacivitta was sentenced to 14 years in prison as a co-author of aggravated homicide involving a firearm, while Romero received five years as a primary participant.
The crime occurred during a fraudulent currency exchange operation. Molina had traveled to an apartment to exchange USD 15,000, though he arrived with USD 7,500. According to the investigation, Lacivitta lured him to the location, where he was assaulted and shot by Eduardo Ajalla Cabrera, Romero's partner, before the assailants fled with the money.
