Argentina teacher strike shows mixed provincial participation

The national teachers' strike called by the Confederación de Trabajadores de la Educación de la República Argentina (CTERA) saw high participation in most provinces, with adherence rates of 70%‑99% reported in Córdoba, Santa Fe, Tucumán, Jujuy, La Rioja, and Buenos Aires. In contrast, the province of Salta recorded a markedly low turnout, with only 10%‑12% of teachers joining the strike, a result attributed to recent wage negotiations and continued provincial compensation.

In Santa Fe, government spokesperson Virginia Coudannes highlighted a record number of teachers who did not join the strike, emphasizing the priority placed on keeping schools open. Governor Maximiliano Pullaro announced a forthcoming trip to Chile to discuss using the Port of Rosario as an export hub for mining products, and also mentioned upcoming meetings to coordinate contingency plans for the El Niño phenomenon.
