Argentina teachers rally against pension reform and university funding deal

Union leaders of the teaching sector in Argentina convened to oppose the government's pension reform and a new university financing agreement. In Entre Ríos, representatives of AGMER, AMET, UDA and SADOP testified before the Senate, warning that the proposal would cut teachers' retirement benefits to about 68‑70% of their active salary and ignore gender‑specific labor realities. They demanded further studies on the health impacts of prolonged teaching careers.

Similarly, the Association of Teachers at the National University of the South (Aduns) rejected a recently signed accord with the government, the National Inter‑University Council and several unions, labeling it a betrayal of the University Funding Law. The university teachers reaffirmed a nationwide strike scheduled for 16‑20 June and condemned the council and federation leaders for endorsing what they called a political scam.
