Argentina telecommunications sector undergoes structural transformation
Argentina's telecommunications sector is undergoing a structural transformation, reaching 64.55 million mobile accesses. According to data from the National Communications Entity (ENACOM), the country has achieved a penetration rate of 139.05 accesses per 100 inhabitants.
The market is currently being reshaped by the deployment of 5G technology and a significant shift in competition following the conditional authorization of Telecom's acquisition of Telefónica Móviles Argentina. To maintain competition, regulators have mandated the transfer of six million mobile customers and associated infrastructure to a new competitor, alongside the return of radio spectrum.
Industry experts note that the focus is shifting from merely expanding coverage to developing more flexible, efficient, and intelligent networks capable of supporting new business models and services.
