Argentina tightens gas pricing and monitoring for GNC stations

Argentina's energy regulator ENARGAS has introduced stricter oversight of compressed natural gas (GNC) service stations under Resolution 66/2026. Distributors must now provide daily forecasts of fuel demand at least 24 hours in advance, allowing better planning of contracted transport capacities amid the country's expanding Vaca Muerta production and the new Perito Moreno pipeline. The measure aims to prevent over‑use of allocated volumes and to optimise the national gas network during peak winter periods.

At the same time, the Secretariat of Energy issued a resolution raising the tariff component for propane distributed through networks from 40 % to 60 % of the Price of Export Parity (PPE). The increase applies to small towns in Buenos Aires Province and other areas that rely on propane by network, reflecting a broader policy to reduce subsidies and align tariffs with real supply costs. Both actions are part of a progressive de‑subsidisation agenda targeting more accurate cost recovery for the gas sector.
