Argentina tipped to win 2026 World Cup by former Ivory Coast star Didier Drogba
In interviews with journalist Mélissa Theuriau on 24‑25 June 2026, former Ivory Coast captain Didier Drogba predicted that Argentina will capture the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He highlighted Lionel Messi’s five goals as evidence of Argentina’s strength and named the South American side as the tournament favourite.
Drogba also expressed optimism for an African surprise, suggesting the Ivory Coast could reach the quarter‑finals or even the semi‑finals. He mentioned Ousmane Dembélé as a potential top scorer, though the current scoring race is led by Messi, Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Júnior and Erling Haaland. The former Chelsea striker recalled the 1998 French and 2002 Brazilian World Cup winners and the memorable hat‑trick by Mbappé in the 2022 final.
