Argentina to extradite bitcoin fraud suspect from Australia

Nicolás Mendioroz Juncosa is scheduled to be extradited from Australia to Salta, Argentina, on October 15. He has been a fugitive since 2022, having left the province shortly before a scheduled indictment hearing.

Mendioroz Juncosa faces charges of fraud and fraudulent administration related to alleged cryptocurrency scams. Victims claim that in 2021, he managed over $170,000 intended for bitcoin investments that were never recovered.

Following his location and detention in Australia, Interpol will coordinate his transfer to Argentine authorities. While the defense requested that he be allowed to return voluntarily rather than in custody, victims have opposed this, citing his years of evading judicial requirements.
