Argentina to tender Palais de Glace restoration and management

The Argentine government has authorized a national and international public tender to restore, manage, and maintain the historic Palais de Glace in Recoleta. Under Decree 1106/2026, the Ministry of Economy, via the Secretariat of Public Works, has a maximum of 12 months to launch the bidding process.

The concession model aims to ensure the economic sustainability of the building by allowing complementary activities compatible with its cultural status. This includes the responsibility for repair, conservation, administration, and the provision of services. Specific details regarding the investment amount, concession duration, and economic terms will be defined in the upcoming bidding documents.

The Palais de Glace has remained closed since December 31, 2017, following an unfinished restoration project that reached only approximately 7-8% physical progress. While the building remains closed, its collection is currently preserved at the Manzana de las Luces Cultural Historical Complex, and its visual arts salon operates within the Palacio Libertad.
