Argentina tourism grows through improved Brazilian air connectivity

Tourism sectors in Argentina's Tierra del Fuego and Río Negro provinces are reporting significant growth driven by improved international connectivity, particularly from Brazil.

In Tierra del Fuego, the Instituto Fueguino de Turismo reported record visitor numbers in July. Dante Querciali, president of the institute, noted that direct flights from Brazil have been a historic factor in boosting the local economy and supporting employment. To sustain this momentum, GOL has confirmed three weekly direct flights from São Paulo to Ushuaia, via Calafate, running from late November through March.

Similarly, Río Negro's tourism agency (ATUR) announced that the province surpassed one million visitors during the first nine months of 2026. Executive director Diego Piquín attributed this success to strategic planning, territorial integration, and increased air connections. The province is leveraging its connections with Brazil to position Bariloche as a primary gateway to southern Argentina, aiming to maintain tourism throughout the entire year rather than just during peak seasons.
