Argentina tourism grows to 4.6 million travelers in winter 2026
During the 2026 winter vacation season, Argentina recorded 4.6 million travelers, representing a 5.9% increase compared to 2025. According to data from the Argentine Confederation of Medium-Sized Enterprises (CAME), total tourism spending reached US$1.412 billion, a 2.5% increase in economic impact over the previous year.
The season faced challenges such as late snow in mountain regions and the influence of the FIFA World Cup, which caused some domestic travelers to head to the United States and shifted demand away from the Atlantic Coast and Buenos Aires province. However, the arrival of approximately 400,000 international tourists helped balance the domestic market.
Mountain and snow destinations saw the strongest performance due to heavy snowfall in late July. Bariloche led with nearly 85% occupancy, followed by Ushuaia, San Martín de los Andes, Villa La Angostura, Esquel, and Malargüe. Other notable destinations included Mendoza, Córdoba, Salta, Jujuy, Tucumán, La Rioja, and Catamarca.
