Argentina towns honor World Cup hero Valentín Barco and singer Luqiano
In the town of 25 May, footballer Valentín “Colo” Barco was greeted by a massive crowd after playing for Argentina at the FIFA World Cup. A parade of cars and motorcycles led him to the municipal palace, where Mayor Ramiro Egüen presented a decree naming him a Distinguished Sports Personality of the district and a personalized caricature. The celebration also featured an emotional reunion with his grandmother, whom he had not seen in seven years.
In Olavarría, local artist Luqiano received a municipal distinction and performed his World Cup‑inspired song “Selección, yo te sigo” despite adverse weather. The live rendition of the anthem, which resonated with fans nationwide, was part of a community‑wide event organized by the city council to express support for the national team.
