Argentina transport costs drive motorcycle credit demand

Rising public transportation costs in Argentina are driving consumers toward alternative mobility options. In Corrientes, the monthly cost of bus fares for a worker making four trips daily can reach approximately 181,440 pesos. This has led to an increase in motorcycle sales, fueled by accessible credit plans that do not require bank paperwork, guarantors, or pay stubs. For example, a Mondial 110 cc Max can be acquired through installment plans ranging from roughly 197,678 pesos over 24 months to 326,180 pesos over 9 months.

Simultaneously, Concordia has implemented a fare increase for urban transport effective September 5. Under municipal decree, the flat rate for the first section of a trip will rise to 1,930 pesos, with subsequent sections costing up to 3,860 pesos. Night services are set at 2,702 pesos. While certain groups such as primary and secondary students, people with disabilities, and children under three maintain free access, university students will receive a 70% discount, paying 579 pesos.
