Argentina U23 National Athletics Championships Crown New 800m and Hammer Throw Champions

The 22nd Argentine U23 National Athletics Championships were held over the weekend in Tigre, Buenos Aires Province, with events split between the synthetic track of Polideportivo Nº 2 Domingo Faustino Sarmiento and the Centro Nacional de Alto Rendimiento Deportivo (CENARD). More than 450 athletes from across the country competed.

María Paz Romero of Corrientes won the women’s 800 metres, recording 2:13.26 to secure the gold medal. Giuliana Baigorria of Neuquén captured the hammer‑throw title with a best of 59.07 m, marking her first U23 crown.

Both athletes will travel to Rosario in two weeks for the senior national championships, and Baigorria also aims to compete at the South American U23 Championships in August.
