Argentina implements wage increases for retirees and public workers

Argentina is seeing widespread adjustments to public sector wages and social benefits. ANSES has announced that pensions will increase by approximately 1.7% in October, bringing the minimum pension to $435,919.96. The continuity of the $70,000 extraordinary bonus for low-income retirees remains unconfirmed.

Domestic workers will also see a 1.7% increase in October, with new monthly rates for general tasks ranging from $498,582.06 for live-in staff to $548,429.23 for live-out staff. In various provinces, including Santa Fe and Entre Ríos, government employees are receiving salary updates to keep pace with inflation, though negotiations with unions remain ongoing in several sectors.

In the education sector, university negotiations have stalled, leading to announced strikes and protests by faculty and staff. Additionally, provincial officials in San Luis and other regions are implementing scheduled salary increments as part of broader fiscal management strategies.
