Argentina Vice President Victoria Villarruel signals possible 2027 presidential run

Vice President Victoria Villarruel told reporters in Tucumán that she has not ruled out a candidacy for the Argentine presidency in 2027, adding, “Hoy por hoy no lo pienso; pienso en cumplir con mi deber en un momento histórico importante.” She emphasized her current focus on the Vice Presidency while leaving the door open for a future campaign.

Villarruel also voiced strong support for teachers’ wages, stating that educators “merecen reconocimiento, respeto y retribución acordes a la importancia de la tarea que realizan.” Her comments came as the Supreme Court upheld a precautionary order on university financing, and she highlighted the need for dignified working conditions for school staff across the nation.
