Argentina wages climb 3.7% in April, led by private informal sector

The Argentine National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (Indec) reported that average salaries rose 3.7% in April compared with the previous month, marking a 36.9% increase year‑on‑year. The monthly gain was driven primarily by a 4.0% rise in the registered private sector, a 2.3% increase in the public sector and a 4.7% jump in the unregistered private sector. Over the first four months of the year, total salary growth reached 12.7% versus December 2025, with the largest contributions coming from the unregistered private segment (19.7% annual rise). The data also showed sector‑specific trends: the national public subsector grew 1.6% month‑on‑month, while the provincial public subsector rose 2.5%. Year‑on‑year, national public salaries rose 23.1% and provincial public salaries 32.1%.
