Argentina warns of telephone and social‑media scams targeting lawyers and public‑sector employees

The Córdoba Bar Association (Colegio de Abogados de Córdoba) in Villa Carlos Paz issued an alert after a series of fraudulent phone calls claimed to process a "Matrícula Digital". The calls used the number 351 7 899692, which was reported to the authorities and ordered blocked by the judiciary. The Bar stressed it never requests personal data, passwords, or payments by phone, WhatsApp, SMS or email, and advised members to ignore such contacts and report them.

The Catamarca provincial police cyber‑crime division warned of a new virtual scam that impersonates the Obra Social de los Empleados Públicos (OSEP). Scammers post fake Facebook offers, then contact victims via WhatsApp and send links to download remote‑access tools such as AnyDesk or TeamViewer. Once installed, the apps allow thieves to view the phone screen, capture personal and financial information, and control the device. Authorities urged the public not to download unknown applications, to verify communications through official OSEP channels, and to use two‑factor authentication and updated software.
