Argentina Water Infrastructure Fund holds $354 billion pesos in financial instruments

Buenos Aires Deputy Silvina Vaccarezza has reported that approximately $354.2 billion pesos from the Water Infrastructure Trust Fund (FFIH) are currently held in financial instruments rather than being used for public works.

According to information obtained through a public information request, $303.37 billion is invested in National Treasury Bills, $47.2 million is in a traditional fixed-term liquidity reserve, and $50.779 billion remains in a bank account. Vaccarezza criticized the economic policies of Economy Minister Luis Caputo, arguing that resources intended for specific purposes, such as flood prevention and infrastructure improvement, are being prioritized for financial speculation over productive investment.

The deputy highlighted the urgency of these funds for the interior of Buenos Aires province, noting that projects related to the Salado River remain stalled. She emphasized that local producers and communities face risks from potential rainfall and deteriorating rural roads while the necessary infrastructure remains unbuilt.
