Argentina weather: Polar wave brings sharp temperature drop

Argentina is experiencing a significant weather transition as a polar wave brings a sharp drop in temperatures across much of the country. In the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA), the Servicio Meteorológico Nacional (SMN) predicts a return to winter-like conditions following a brief period of spring-like warmth. While some days will feature sun and stable conditions, a cold air mass is expected to drive minimum temperatures down to between 3°C and 4°C in certain suburban sectors, particularly around September 5.

The cold front is also expected to impact the Pampean region, Entre Ríos, Santa Fe, Córdoba, and San Luis, with some areas potentially seeing temperatures 6°C to 10°C below seasonal norms. In contrast, northern regions like Santiago del Estero are expected to maintain more stable and temperate conditions, with daytime highs reaching up to 27°C.

Meteorologists note that this period of instability, characterized by shifting winds and potential rain or thunderstorms in the central regions, is part of the seasonal transition from winter to spring.
