Santa Rosa storm threatens weather stability in Paraguay and Argentina

A weather phenomenon known as the Santa Rosa storm is expected to bring significant instability to parts of Argentina and Paraguay during the final weekend of August. In Paraguay, the department of Itapúa may experience heavy rainfall starting Friday night, which could impact the WRC Rally Paraguay 2026. Meteorologists predict a gradual temperature drop in the region, with minimums potentially reaching 16°C by early next week.

In Argentina, the storm system is projected to move through the central and littoral regions. Misiones and northeast Corrientes are identified as areas with high probabilities of heavy rainfall, with some models suggesting accumulations between 100 and 130 millimeters. This weather shift is expected to affect various activities, including the Turismo Nacional racing event in Oberá, where rain forecasts for Sunday could influence the championship standings.
