Argentina wheat planting reaches 65.8% amid humidity delays

The 2026/27 wheat sowing campaign in Argentina has advanced to 65.8% of the projected 6.5 million hectares, covering about 4.3 million hectares. Progress rose by 8.2 percentage points in the last week, but planting remains behind both the five‑year average (‑5.9 points) and the previous season (‑6.9 points) because recent rains, low temperatures and high ground moisture have stalled machinery in several regions.

Córdoba and La Pampa lead the sowing effort, while excess moisture hampers work in Buenos Aires and Santa Fe. Despite the delays, the emerging crop shows a favourable health status and ample water availability, with early‑planted areas already entering the jointing stage in the NOA, NEA, central‑north Santa Fe and central‑east Entre Ríos. Experts note that the current conditions support a positive outlook for the wheat harvest, provided weather constraints ease.
