Argentina dominates 2026 FIH Hockey Stars Awards
Argentina achieved a historic milestone at the 2026 FIH Hockey Stars Awards, securing four of the six individual honors. The awards recognize the top performers following a season where the women's national team, Las Leonas, won the World Cup and the men's team, Los Leones, earned a bronze medal.
Sofía Cairó was named Player of the Year, following her decisive performances in the World Cup and the 2024 Paris Olympics. Tomás Domene made history as the first male player from Los Leones to win the Player of the Year award. Additionally, Cristina Cosentino was honored as Goalkeeper of the Year, becoming the first Argentine goalkeeper to receive the distinction, while Zoé Díaz was named Rising Star of the Year for the second consecutive time.
The recognition follows a highly successful period for Argentine hockey, characterized by international titles and high-level consistency in global competitions.
