Argentina Winter Safari records over 1,200 species

The fifth annual Winter Safari 2026, organized by the Fundación Vida Silvestre Argentina through the ArgentiNat platform, has concluded with record-breaking preliminary results. Between July 31 and August 3, 385 observers documented 1,206 different species across Argentina.

Participants recorded a total of 3,936 observations, which were processed through 6,799 identifications made by 404 identifiers. The event involved people documenting plants, animals, and fungi in various locations, including parks, reserves, beaches, and schools, despite unfavorable weather conditions in several regions.

This citizen science initiative aims to provide valuable data on species distribution to aid conservation efforts. As the results are preliminary, the data will continue to be updated in the coming months as more participants upload their records and the collaborative identification process continues.
