Argentina winter vacation travel ramps up with extra bus and train services
With the start of the winter school break in Buenos Aires, tourism operators reported a surge in passenger traffic to Villa Carlos Paz and other regional destinations. More than 200 bus passengers were expected at the Buenos Aires terminal early Saturday, and companies such as Flecha Bus, Urquiza and Chevallier added services on routes from Retiro, Rosario and other points. Officials quoted Mario Arce saying, "Estamos esperando tempranito gente aquí en la terminal," and noted the positive balance of the first half‑month of holidays, emphasizing short weekend trips and the upcoming Festival Nacional e Internacional del Poncho in Catamarca.
In the Patagonian province of Chubut, the provincial government added an extra "La Trochita" train run between Esquel and Nahuelpan on 21 July to meet the heightened demand during the same vacation period. The additional service joins regular trips scheduled for 18, 23, 25 and 30 July, reinforcing the historic rail line as a key tourist attraction across the region.
