Argentina women's basketball loses to New Zealand in Olympic pre-qualifier debut
The Argentina women's national basketball team lost their opening match of the Olympic pre-qualifier tournament in Guadalajara, Mexico, falling 35-57 to New Zealand.
While Argentina remained competitive during the first half, trailing by only four points at halftime (28-24), New Zealand pulled away in the second half. The decisive gap widened in the final period when New Zealand went on a 13-0 run, while Argentina managed only three points in the final ten minutes of play.
Florencia Chagas led the Argentine team with 10 points, followed by Macarena D’Urso with 8 points. Argentina is competing in Group A alongside New Zealand, Brazil, and South Sudan. The team's next scheduled match is against South Sudan.
