Argentina's 2025/26 maize harvest reaches 48.2% of cultivated area

The 2025/26 Argentine maize harvest has progressed to 48.2% of the area suitable for commercial grain, with an average yield of 81.4 quintals per hectare and a projected total production of 64 million tonnes – a 30.6% increase over the previous cycle. The northern core of the country is driving the advance, while higher grain moisture in central and southern Buenos Aires slows harvester operations.

In Entre Ríos, wheat sowing is 65% complete against a target of 600,000 ha, a 40‑point improvement over the same date last year, thanks to lower rainfall. Flax (linseed) sowing for the 2026/27 campaign stands at roughly 45% of the planned 9,500 ha, though progress is hampered by excess moisture and seed germination issues.

Both reports highlight the role of weather conditions in shaping planting and harvesting schedules and underscore the sector’s contribution to Argentina’s agricultural output and fiscal revenue.
