Argentina's ANMAT bans several sunscreens and cleaning products in Buenos Aires
The National Administration of Drugs, Food and Medical Technology (ANMAT) issued Disposition 4300/2026, published in the Official Gazette on 20 July, prohibiting the distribution, commercialization, use, and advertising of three sunscreen products – COLLAGEN Nourish Skin SPF60++ (Karité), Sunscreen Cream SPF50 (Kiss Beauty) and ANTHELIOS XL 50+ SPF (Miss Vanesa) – and three cleaning products sold in the City of Buenos Aires. Inspections carried out on 15 May 2026 found the items lacked sanitary registration, proper documentation, and were not imported through authorized channels, leading ANMAT to classify them as “illegitimate cosmetics.”
The regulator also withdrew a lot of the botulinum toxin product Dysport 500 IPSEN (lot P22179, expiry 12/2028) after a complaint of alleged falsification. ANMAT’s actions aim to protect consumer health by ensuring only products meeting hygiene and safety standards remain on the market.
