Argentina approves $50,000 one‑off bonus for active military and federal security personnel
The Argentine government, led by President Javier Milei, signed Decrees 695/2026 and 696/2026 to grant a single, fixed payment of $50,000 to all active‑duty members of the Armed Forces and federal security agencies. The measure, published in the Official Gazette, applies to military personnel of the Army, Navy and Air Force, the Naval Establishments Police, civil intelligence staff attached to the armed forces, as well as to the Gendarmería Nacional, the Prefectura Naval, the Policía Federal, the Policía de Seguridad Aeroportuaria, the Servicio Penitenciario Federal and the Dirección Nacional de Inteligencia Criminal. The bonus is classified as an extraordinary, remunerative but non‑bonifiable sum; it will be paid together with the August 2026 salaries and does not alter base wages or other salary scales. The executive justified the payment as a means to preserve the purchasing power of these personnel given their responsibilities and dedication.
